The Colors, They Are a ’Changin’
Just a week or so ago there was snow on the ground. Then we got rain, freezing rain, and ice.
This weekend proved to be classic fall in the high desert. I bit of chill in the air, and blue skies above. It was a great to be outside.
Saturday, Braden and I decided to go for a drive to see the wonders that were happening outside. We cruised through downtown, Drake Park, Pioneer Park, and Farewell Bend Park before deciding to head towards the mountains. We quickly noticed that there were some ominous clouds coming over the summit so we made a left turn in order to check out some areas of the Deschutes River above town.
We made a good choice.

Braden skipped some rocks across the river while I played with the camera. He got one to skip 5 times across the rough water. I only got one to go 4.

The locals weren’t too thrilled.

On Sunday we went to Cat6. It’s a video game players dream. We spent an hour there flying fighter jets on team flights into unbelievable territories. I’m not a video game fan, but this place was cool. Leather seats, flat screens, and the opportunity to have an hour of fun with my son. He kicked my butt but I don’t care. He was happy to spend yesterday with me making images while hiking along the river, so I didn’t mind playing his game for a bit. The Pizza Mondo dinner at a warm table on the streets of downtown Bend topped it off.
Not to mention a couple of hours laughing together while watching The Holy Grail.
What a grand weekend!
Gary, nice lookin’ photo of the Deschutes with the fall colors turning. I need to get back over there.
Also, Braden has grown…wow. Seems like I blinked my eyes and he’s grown 2 feet since I saw photos of him.
Sounds like a good time and finished off with the Holy Grail.
“Come back here you ninny and fight like a man”. Classic.
See ya at BP.
